We’ve all been through it at least once, you see your hair fall and you start freaking out, but truly this is normal. In fact the average woman loses between 50 and 100 strands per day, and sometimes even up to 150. If you have longer hair it can appear that more hair has fallen, whereas shorter hair falls a lot less.

However, there may be certain factors that cause more hair loss at different times. For example, work stress, illness or even as little as a stomach bug, this can all cause extreme detaching even 6 to 10 weeks later. Nevertheless, after this period your hair will stop falling out on its own and be back to normal before you know it.

Hair restoration specialist Dr James C Moratto, has come upwith a trick to see if you should be worried about your hairloss, ‘‘Take about 60 hairs between your fingers and pull, running your fingers through your hair. Usually between 5 and 8 hairs should fall, which is normal and you have nothing to worry about, anything beyond 15 is not common but may also not be a cause for concern, it’s just safer to ask an expert’’ he tells Style Caster.

If you feel you are loosing more hair than usual it’s important to revaluate your lifestyle, exercise and maintain a healthy well balanced diet. It’s essential to take all main vitamins (Vitamins A,B,C,D and E) Not only are vitamins vital for our well-being, we need them for the health of our hair, as a vitamin deficiency can be the cause for hair fall.

So don’t panic. You’ve got this under control.
